Why Mental Health Workshops and Coaching in Schools Are Essential

The mental health of young people is more important than ever.

According to recent statistics, 1 in 6 children aged
5–16 now experience mental health issues, compared to 1 in 10 just a decade ago. Anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders are rising, and the challenges of social media, academic pressures, and post-pandemic recovery have only exacerbated these issues.

At Best Version Youth Coaching, we believe schools are a pivotal space for addressing these concerns.

Mental health workshops and coaching in schools provide young people with a unique opportunity to prevent issues before they escalate, learn essential coping strategies, and develop emotional resilience. Each workshop is thoughtfully designed to run for 90 minutes, ensuring students have the time to engage deeply with the content and fully benefit from the experience.

Our Preventative Approach

We focus on a collaborative, preventative approach that empowers young people, teachers, and parents to work together toward better mental health outcomes. By fostering open conversations and teaching practical tools for emotional well-being, we help young people recognise and manage their emotions before they become overwhelming.

Prevention is not just about solving problems but about equipping young people with the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges confidently. Early intervention and psycho-education in schools reduce stigma, normalise seeking help, and promote healthier coping mechanisms.

The Benefits of Sharing and Learning in a Safe Space

Our workshops provide a safe, non-judgmental space where young people can openly discuss their experiences, share challenges, and learn together. This group environment has several benefits:

  • Peer Support: Hearing others’ stories helps students realise they are not alone, fostering connection and reducing isolation.

  • Shared Learning: Young people learn from each other’s perspectives, broadening their understanding of mental health.

  • Empowerment: Students leave feeling more confident in addressing their challenges and supporting others.

  • Stigma Reduction: Normalising mental health conversations in a group setting makes it easier for young people to seek help when needed.

Building a Resilient Future

By integrating mental health coaching and workshops into schools, we aim to create a culture of resilience, awareness, and support. These sessions teach young people how to manage stress, build self-esteem, and develop a positive outlook on life. Moreover, they equip schools with the tools to foster a healthier environment for all.

Investing in the mental health of young people today means fewer long-term issues tomorrow. Together, we can ensure every student feels empowered to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

School Workshops Programmes

I offer schools personalised or bespoke group workshops tailored to the specific needs and priorities of the school.

These workshops can be delivered as a one-off session, a series of weekly sessions, or as part of one of my established programs:

The Thrive Tribe

This six-week program is inclusive and adaptable, designed for boys and girls across all school ages. It focuses on building resilience and fostering emotional well-being through a supportive group setting. By bringing students together, the program addresses universal challenges young people face, encouraging connection, mutual support, and open dialogue in a safe space for learning and growth.

Proven to be effective, The Thrive Tribe equips participants with the tools and confidence to navigate their experiences while fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.

Girl Empowered

This six-week program is designed to address the unique challenges faced by girls in today’s world, offering a safe and inclusive space for them to come together to share, learn, and grow. It focuses on building confidence and self-worth while fostering a strong sense of community.

What sets Girl Empowered apart is the supportive environment it creates, where girls feel encouraged to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build empathy. This sense of belonging empowers participants to not only support themselves but also uplift their peers, creating a community where they feel seen, heard, and valued.

Bespoke Workshops

For schools that want something more tailored, I offer the flexibility to design workshops around specific topics that are most relevant to their students. Schools can identify areas they feel need attention—whether it’s bullying , anxiety, exam stress, or something else—and I will create workshops to address these needs.

Combination Days

I also offer a full-day package, combining workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions for students who may benefit from individualised support. This option allows schools to maximise the impact by addressing group dynamics and individual challenges within the same day.

My aim is to work collaboratively with schools to ensure every program and workshop is impactful, practical, and tailored to meet their unique needs.
